BEACH VOLLEYBALL Kenya's beach volleyball raring to go at Commonwealth Youth Games
The duo is confident that their preparation has been seamless and they will be hoping to bring home decent performances.
“We shall continue with training in Yaoundé before reporting for the competition venue In Yaounde. We want to come back home with the trophy and Olympics ticket,” Bitok said.
Bitok added that despite Kenya beating Cameroon five times in World Cup, World Championship, and Olympics qualifiers they have failed three times in the continental event, the last being in Rwanda in 2021. The last time Kenya won was in 2015.
“Now that the Olympics qualifying will be based on ranking the only chance to repeat the continental ticket for Malkia depends on this competition. We are going in this year's edition with 124 points followed closely by Cameroon with 122,” he added.
He also expressed the belief that the team is much stronger at the moment and ready for the challenge when they face off against Tunisia, Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, Rwanda, and Uganda.
“The team has had enough training in Morocco and France and I can assure Kenya we are ready for the competition.
The technical bench has high-performance coaches from Brazil together with me and we have put a lot of effort to see Malkia at the top now and in the future.
