Petra Kvitova, Sorana Cirstea, and Martina Trevisan attained significant feats by reaching the quarterfinals of the Miami Open.
Petra Kvitova reached back-to-back Sunshine Double quarterfinals, defeating Varvara Gracheva 7-5 7-6(5) in Miami.
Kvitova was down 2-5 in the 2nd set but showed why she’s one of the greatest champions in the sport.
The Czech will face Ekaterina Alexandrova in the quarterfinals, who advanced after Bianca Andreescu retired from the match with a badly rolled ankle at 7-6(0), 0-2.
Meanwhile, 32-year-old Sorana Cirstea took out Marketa Vondrousova 7-6(3), 6-4 to qualify for her first quarterfinals in Miami, where she will face either Aryna Sabalenka.
Cirstea is playing the best tennis of her career, reaching consecutive Indian Wells and Miami Open quarterfinals, which is quite amazing for an unseeded player. She is yet to drop a set so far in Miami.

Trevisan stuns Ostapenko to make Italian history in Miami
Martina Trevisan caused a shocking upset against Jelena Ostapenko, defeating the top seed 6-3 6-3 to reach her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal in Miami.
By doing this, she became the first Italian player to reach the WTA quarterfinals in Miami since Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci in 2013.
It is one of Trevisan's biggest wins, as she had only won a match against a top 50 player before, and that was against Maria Sakkari earlier this year at the United Cup.
