Round 2 results of the Miami Open with Jessica Pegula, Jelena Ostapenko cruising to the third round.
Jessica Pegula had a perfect start, cruising to the third round of the Miami Open with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Kathsebov, while Jelena Ostapenko easily defeated Bjorklund 6-3, 6-4 to advance into Round 3.
Paula Badosa escaped an early exit, rallying past Laura Siegemund 7-6(2), 4-6, 6-2 to advance to Round 3.
Siegemund took a medical time-out in the third set and Badosa decided to rally with the ball boy to stay warm.
In an on-court interview after the match, Badosa talked about how difficult the start of the year has been and working back to regain her confidence.
“It’s how I am, I’m just a fighter. This year I started very well & then the injury. I got sick, it’s been tough, so my confidence isn’t very high. The self talk is a little more negative, but I’m working on it and I hope I can start to feel the Paula I want to feel,” she said.
