The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development announced that the Mixed Martial Arts Federation has confirmed the birth of the Mixed Martial Arts Federation (MMA) in the country.
The Nigerian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NMMAF) will oversee the games going forward.

The President of the Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation, Henry George, has vowed the federation will storm the grassroots to develop talents.
In an interview with journalists, the former world champion stated that they have begun educating officials in the country about the game.
He said, “We believe in Grassroots, most of our events have been about education. Educating our referees, educating our officials and our athletes.
“We’ll be going to states, we will be establishing in different states sports councils. We have secretaries and coaches educating our athletes because you can’t have a national event if we don’t have athletes and for us to have athletes we must go to grassroots.
“We’ve been having events, championships to encourage grassroots giving fighters opportunities to compete, to have that confidence that they are meeting fighters of their own class, people who have not tried Mixed Martial Arts coming for the first time this has been our work all this while,” he said.

In recent years, Africa has produced quite a few top-tier MMA athletes, and athletes with Nigerian ancestry have made a particularly noteworthy contribution to the sport. Before both men abruptly lost their titles in the second half of 2022, the UFC had two champions of Nigerian descent: Kamaru Usman and Israel Adesanya.
Usman will have the opportunity to reclaim his title when he competes against Leon Edwards in a trilogy bout at UFC 286. If the UFC wants to hold an event in Nigeria, it probably won't object to "The Nigerian Nightmare" regaining the title.
