Nairobi Polo Club's Zambia Men's 9 Goal Polo Tournament returns with high-stakes action supported by SBM Bank Kenya's generous sponsorship.

The Nairobi Polo Club is all set to ignite the polo scene once again as it prepares to host the highly anticipated Zambia Men's 9 Goal Polo Tournament from September 15th to the 16th.

This exciting event returns in line with the club's annual tradition of hosting international tournaments in the month of September.

The tournament promises to be a dazzling showcase of polo prowess, shining a spotlight on some of the most exceptional talent in the region.

With a 9-goal limit in place, ensuring a balanced playing field, spectators can expect nail-biting matches filled with skill and competitiveness.

SBM Bank Kenya has further elevated the event's prestige by pledging a generous sponsorship of KES 3 Million for the 2023/24 season.

Jotham Mutoka, Deputy CEO of SBM Bank Kenya, expressed the bank's enthusiasm for the tournament.

"We are thrilled to be part of the 2023/24 polo calendar tournament in partnership with the Nairobi Polo Club. This event promises to be a spectacular showcase of exceptional polo talent in the region, and we eagerly look forward to it,” he said.

"Our sponsorship commitment of KES 3 million underscores our bank's deep dedication to supporting sports and cultural events that not only entertain but also foster community unity and champion excellence. We believe in the power of sports to bring people together, and this partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to the growth and development of the local sports scene. We can't wait to witness the thrilling matches ahead and the positive impact they will have on our community."

The tournament will feature a captivating mix of Zambian Men's Team players and Kenya's top polo talent. Among them, Casimir Gross, with a remarkable 5-goal handicap, and Vishal Somaia, the team Kenya captain with a 2-goal handicap, will grace the preliminary rounds.

Sunday's main event will witness an electrifying showdown between Kenya and Zambia, promising an afternoon of thrilling polo action.

The Zambia Men's Team's arrival follows the riveting performance of their Ladies' team, which recently engaged in a high-scoring clash against a formidable Kenyan team.

Led by Sally Jellis, the experienced Zambian side showcased their skills, but the young Kenyan team emerged victorious with an impressive 11-8 scoreline. This enthralling battle for supremacy earned the Kenyan team the prestigious Swinburn Trophy, symbolizing their exceptional skill and teamwork.

The Nairobi Polo Club, with its lush green grounds and rich history, provides the perfect backdrop for this prestigious tournament.

Polo enthusiasts and sports fans alike can look forward to a weekend of fast-paced action, stunning horsemanship, and incredible camaraderie.
