National Youth Games: 12-year-old Chukwumdumebi Esli demands improved facilities

Chukwumdumebi represented Akwa Ibom at the ongoing National Youth Games in Delta State in the Swimming finals where he narrowly missed a medal.

12-year-old Nigerian Swimmer Chukwumdumebi Esli Oguegbulu, has called for enhanced facilities to support young athletes nationwide.

In her debut appearance at the Youth Games, expressed her motivation for taking up swimming as a sport, citing swimming legend Michael Phelps, who overcame a knee injury to excel in the water.

Chukwumdumebi urges FG to Improve Sports facilities

Chukwumdumebi, who hopes to represent Nigeria at the Olympics, urged the government to improve sports facilities. He cited acrobatic athletes who face training challenges due to insufficient equipment. He emphasized that improved training facilities would significantly enhance the performance of athletes.

"This is my first time coming to the National youth Games and i will be here again by next year which i dont feel bad about the results.

"The government should help us develop our facilities because most times the equipment at the Swimming pool are not good, in Acrobatic sports health safety should be part of it and i am appealing to the Government to improve the quality of swimming pools and the facilities they are giving for us to train better."

Chukwumdumebi is prepared to continue his path and hopes to compete in the next edition of the youth games after an amazing debut performance.
