Emmanuel Aupal, the newly elected student representative for the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU), has emphasized the need for greater student involvement in sports leadership and the use of social media as a tool for achieving the organization's goals.
In a recent interview with Pulse Sports, Aupal highlighted the importance of developing future sports leaders through increased student participation in sports leadership roles.
He argued that "having more students engaged in sports leadership prepares individuals for the administrative tasks in sport and will eventually help the organization get better down the road."
Aupal also emphasized the importance of social media in achieving FASU's objectives, citing the success of the Nigerian University Games Association in using social media to organize tryouts for the Chengdu World University Games.
"The impact of social media cannot be overstated in achieving our necessary goals as a Federation," Aupal said.
The election, which took place at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, saw Aupal elected as student representative and Association of Uganda University Sports president(AUUS), Peninah Kabange as the general secretary of FASU.
Founded in 1971 by ten African countries, FASU is committed to promoting sports development in African universities.
Aupal's vision for the future of university sports in Africa reflects the organization's commitment to innovation and growth.
As the newly elected representative, Aupal's call for increased student involvement and the use of social media underscores the importance of developing the next generation of sports leaders while leveraging modern technology to achieve FASU's objectives.
