The vibrant Ngo League, an esteemed football league orchestrated by the distinguished alumni of Namilyango College, one of Uganda's oldest and most revered secondary institutions, united former students on August 6 at the Kitante grounds.
The event served as a dynamic convergence, fostering both networking and physical fitness, as has been their tradition over the years.
However, this occasion held a dual purpose: to pave the path for an even more electrifying athletic endeavor – the renowned Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon.
The ambiance on the field was positively infectious, acting as a stage where the grandeur of the Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon came vividly alive.
With the impending marathon scheduled for September 2 in the picturesque locale of Kasese, the organizers seized the opportunity presented by the alumni football league to rally the Old Boys and encourage their enthusiastic participation in this monumental challenge.
Shedding light on the forthcoming marathon, the event orchestrators shared captivating insights into its unique allure, emphasizing the opportunity to escape the urban hustle and explore the breathtaking expanse of their homeland, all while traversing against the stunning backdrop of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain ranges.
The festivities encompassed captivating attractions such as the spirited "Hang On Challenge" and a spirited dance-off led by the exuberant Sukuma Dance Group and the spirited Dance Mamweta.
"Today, our gathering serves the purpose of igniting the spirit within the Namilyango Old Boys to embrace this 'lite' and register for the upcoming marathon. This event promises not only an exhilarating adventure but also resonates profoundly with the essence of Ngo League – a commitment to community, well-being, and physical vitality," declared Elizabeth Mutamuliza, the Brand Manager of Premium Beers at UBL.
Elizabeth went on to cordially extend an invitation to all members of the broader public who aspire to be part of this indelible journey to register for the marathon. She also revealed that the online registration deadline has been extended to accommodate a larger participation, welcoming more individuals to partake in this unforgettable experience.
The Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon, inaugurated last year, stands as an annual hallmark, encompassing a full 42km marathon, a half marathon spanning 21km, and a 5km fun run.
On the sporting battleground, the intensity was palpable as 18 teams engaged in spirited competition, vying to secure coveted positions within the top echelons of the league standings.
As the day drew to a close, the resounding message reverberated – the transition from the football pitch to the marathon course signifies an unparalleled opportunity to shatter limits and embark on an odyssey of exploration within the embrace of this captivating nation.
