The president of the Nigeria Wheelchair Softball Association, Odior Sunday, has urged Nigerians and corporate bodies to embrace parasports in the nation, particularly wheelchair softball.

Nigerian Softball lacks exposure and support
The president said that Nigeria was the first country to be exposed to the sport, but compared to Ghana and some other African nations, which had government support and private sponsors, Nigeria's lack of exposure and support from everyone hindered the game's development in the nation.
He added that with over 20 million people living with disability in Nigeria, para-sports have received less or no attention from government, corporate, and individual sponsorship, unlike other countries where the sports get full support.
Sunday, applauded the president's approval of the Sports Industrial Bill, supporting parasports that will keep the over 20 million individuals with disabilities who live on the streets off the streets if they participate in the sports.

He said, "All over the world, like the US Paralympic committee, most of their para-sports events are sponsored by churches, financial institutions, and companies among others.
"We want financial institutions, corporate organizations, and individuals as well as affluent people to come and support this wheelchair softball sport."
On his part, Osei Mensah, the president of the Ghana Wheelchair Softball Federation, expressed joy at his team's victory and praised the Nigerian team's improved play.

Nigeria to participate at Wheelchair Basketball African Games
Nigeria's men's wheelchair basketball team has qualified for the 2023 African Para Games in Ghana.
He claimed that the friendly match served as a training ground for the Ghanaian team in advance of the World Cup Series, in which Ghana will compete, which will take place in the United States in August 2023.
