Uganda is in Group D alongside New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Singapore and their campaign will start with the latter on July 28th at a tournament that runs until August 6th.

Due to financial constraints, the Uganda national senior netball team, the She Cranes did not take part in the Netball World Cup qualifiers held in South Africa in August last year.

The financial woes continue but amidst all, the fixture schedule has been released ahead of the first-ever World Cup to be hosted in Africa.

According to reports, the She Cranes to play the Netball World Cup Cape Town 2023 UNF will first have to pay £5000 (about UGX22M) fines for missing the World Cup Qualifiers last year in South Africa.

She Cranes' head coach Fred Mugerwa is confident Uganda will honour the tournament come July.

“This is the World's biggest stage and playing there is a great achievement and I am sure we are going to participate,” Mugerwa told Pulse Sports

“I am aware of the federation's financial situation, the players and everyone else also know but I can firmly say that there is no possibility of missing out.”

“The president, Babirye Kityo is doing all she can to get everything sorted out and surely I expect all the responsible authorities to come in and support the team.”

Mugerwa added: “I have been discussing a lot of things with her recently and even today (Wednesday) we separated when she left for a meeting with the Minister of Education and Sports (Janet Museveni).”

Despite not participating in the qualifiers, Uganda already had a slot for the World Cup, being one of the highest-ranked teams in the World - seventh.

Uganda is in Group D alongside New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Singapore and their campaign will start with the latter on July 28th at a tournament that runs until August 6th.
