Singapore will offer about Ksh97 million to their gold medallists, more than 10 times what the US will be awarding their athletes with some countries having no prize money to offer their athletes.

Top three finishers in different countries will leave the Olympic Games smiling since other than winning the gold medals, they will be awarded cash boons of prize money.

At the moment, Singapore stands out with the highest prize money structure, awarding the gold medallists $737,500 (about Ksh 97 million). The athletes who finish second and third will have the honours of walking away with $368,000 (Ksh 48 million) and $184,000 (Ksh 24 million) respectively.

In Spain, gold medallists will go home smiling too, with gold medallists pocketing $102,900 and silver medallists bagging a whooping $52,600. The Olympic bronze medallists will be awarded $32,900.

In the U.S. the likes of Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Gabby Thomas will also be in a treat as the top three finishers will also be awarded. This comes as motivation for the athletes to perform above expectations.

Winners will walk away with $37,500 while the athletes who finish second will be awarded $22,500. The podium sealers will walk away with $15,000.

In Kazakhstan, athletes will not be awarded in cash prizes but they will not go empty handed as their government has set aside tokens of appreciation.

The winners will be awarded a three-room apartment while the athletes who finish second will own a two-room apartment. The athletes who finish third will be given a one-room apartment.

Other governments have also joined in the race to offer prize money to their athletes including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, Italy, the Philippines, Estonia and Egypt.
