Three days after making history, being crowned the W15 Monastir champion, tennis star Angella Okutoyi is not resting on her laurels as she shifts focus to the Kenya Open scheduled for Monday 7 to Friday 11 August at the Nairobi Club.
Okutoyi is enjoying a blissful season and she will be hoping to maintain the hot streak at the national event.

She had an unbeaten run that saw her top the podium and seal her maiden ITF World Tennis Tour crown.
In a post on her Twitter handle, an elated Okutoyi said: “KENYA OPEN is back!!! ... let's sign up and see you on the new clay courts at Nairobi Club next week.”
The newly-crowned Monastir champion has had a great season thus far, which saw her lead Kenya to a podium finish at the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Africa Group III tournament held at the Nairobi Club.
Kenya secured a hard-fought third-place finish and Okutoyi was among the young girls who wowed the crowds with their impressive exploits.
She then headed to Tunisia for the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women's World Tennis Tour W15 Monastir and was crowned the W15 Monastir doubles champion together with her talented French partner, Beverley Nyangom.

After her dominant exploits in the doubles, the 19-year-old maintained her prowess in the singles where she also dominated and won the final over USA’s Isabella Harvison.
With her win, she became the first Kenyan player to lift singles silverware on the ITF World Tennis Tour and the first player from Kenya to win a professional singles event since Paul Wekesa (Andorra Challenger) in 1994.
