Next in line for Chess Kenya is preparing for the Chess World Cup to be staged in Azerbaijan from July 29 to August 25.
The second edition of the Kenya Corporate Chess Championship will be used to select a team for the World Rapid Chess Championship later this year in Germany.
In a post on the Chess Kenya Facebook page, it was noted that the winning team will be nominated to participate in the global event as part of the awards given.

The federation has been conducting the Chess in Schools programme for the last five years and the response is promising.
Other awards to be granted include plaques to the top three teams overall and all the participants to be given certificates of participation. Also, the winners shall be crowned the 2023 Kenya’s Corporate Champions.
The local event is scheduled for June 17 at the Villa Rosa Kempinski and registration is still ongoing. The event is open to all players but they must be affiliated to the corporate. It was also communicated that each team, consisting of five players, will have to register with Ksh100,000.
Meanwhile, Chess Kenya has been off to a great start this season hosting major successful events from the Kenya Open Chess Championship staged at the Sarit Center to the National Youth and Cadets Chess Championships in Kisii.
Chess Kenya also sent Robert Mcligeyo and Joyce Nyaruai to the Africa Individual Chess Championships which was held in Cairo, Egypt.
