After his unceremonious exit from the Magical Kenya Open, golfer Dismas Indiza feels the sport in on a downward spiral and has shared tips on how Kenya can improve.
Veteran golfer Dismas Indiza has lamented the lack of exposure for young golfers and given a solution to how local players can be helped to shine at global tournaments.
Indiza has been one of the great voices in Kenyan golf with his prowess on the course being an added advantage for him but he feels the sport is slowly dying.
The 55-year-old lamented that even after the 2024 Magical Kenya Open, there was no a calendar of the events to be held next and local golfers have to wait for tournaments like the Safari Tour, with so much uncertainty on what next.

The field includes 141 top Kenyans who will be joined by players from India, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Norway, and Great Britain.
“We need support for the young guys to go and play outside the country because if they play outside, they will gain good experience," an agitated Indiza said.
“You can’t expect a golfer who plays in Limuru, Sigona, and Mombasa to play well when it comes to international tournaments, that’s nothing because the course is not the same and the competition is also not the same.
“Nothing is next for me…we are just hanging here and waiting for the Safari tour maybe to come."

Indiza, who failed to make the cut in this year’s Magical Kenya Open, also complained that the world-class event should be taken with utmost seriousness.
He explained that the event is usually hard and not everyone is capable of reaching the levels that Kenyan golfers have tried to reach.
“The Magical Kenya Open is not easy and you can’t just come from anywhere and expect to play well in the tournament," he added.
