Team captain Grace Adhiambo has noted that qualifying for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 will be a game-changer for her and the team.
The team is gearing up for the Africa Sevens- cum-Olympic qualifiers slated for October 14 to 15 in Tunisia and Adhiambo believes that tournament will determine their lives as women in rugby in Kenya. She added that it will open more doors for more women to join the sport in the country.

Daniel Simiu has shared the reason why he let Sabastian Sawe win the Half Marathon at the World Road Running Championships.
“I’m the captain for the first time and it’s a very precious game that we are going for…this is a tournament that will determine our lives as women in rugby in Kenya.
Winning the game and qualifying for the Olympic Games will mean that doors will open for more women to join the sport. We definitely want more women to come play rugby,” Adhiambo said.
For Adhiambo, qualifying for the second time will be a huge thing in her career and it will earn her more endorsements.
“It will be like a game changer for me and going to Paris, to the city of love, I mean…what am I looking for?” she said.
She added that having Janet Okello, the deputy captain, in the squad will be a huge boost for the team since she is also a talented athlete.
“Janet is just an image…even the name Janet is just an image by itself. The girl is a superpower…we call her ‘Shebesh’ and I think you know Shebesh.
