Yenagoa LGA win the maiden edition with 74 medals
Yenagoa Local Government has won the maiden edition of the Bayelsa State Sports Festival.
The six days Sporting fiesta was tagged “Access Bank Prosperity Unity Games” and witnessed eight local governments in action.

Yenagoa LGA topped the medals table with 74 medals comprising 34 gold, 22 silver, and 18 bronze.
The first runner Kolokuma/Opokuma won 92 medals, 30 gold, 29 silver, and 33 bronze, Nembe LGA emerged second runners-up with 81 medals, 25 gold, 25 silver, and 31 bronze.

Southern Ijawemerged fourth with 78 medals, 22 gold, 29 silver, and 27 bronze and won gold in the women’s football event, while Ekeremor garnered 66 medals, 21 gold, 21 gold, 24 to finish 5th, Brass LGA 63 medals, 17 gold, 15 silver, 31.
Sagbama LGA got 48 medals to come out 7th with 9 gold, silver, and 24 bronze, and Ogbia LGA finished bottom of the log with less impressive performances in all the sports, 44 medals 7 gold, 9 silver, and 28 bronze.
The Festival has Unites the people of Bayelsa - Commissioner
Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri, was represented by the commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, declared the Access Bank Prosperity Unity Games to be over and congratulated all eight LGA and athletes who participated in the first Sports Festival, highlighting how sports had brought the youths of Bayelsa together over the last six days of the event.
