The former Shujaa Sevens captain believes that the side still has a long way to go before it is ready for the Kenya Cup despite winning a record 10th floodies title.
KCB RFC coach Andrew Amonde has revealed that the team is still in the “process” of being ready for the Kenya Cup despite storming to a record 10th Impala Floodlit title in what was a scrappy win over newly-promoted Nondies.
The Bankers edged Nondies 25-23 in extra time in a game that had to be decided by tight margins as they took advantage of Nondies’ lack of discipline and Darwin Mukidza’s excellent kicking ability to give them the title.

RUGBY Andrew Amonde aims dig at Nondies after victory in Impala Floodlit final
Amonde aimed a subtle dig at Nondies after KCB had been largely decimated after most of the players went away on international duty with Kenya Simbas.
Amonde, who also aimed a dig at Nondies by saying they used their fringe players to beat the “strongest” side the Championship winners had at their disposal, has expressed satisfaction at the fact he was able to know where the team stands from a depth perspective ahead of a grueling next few months of Kenya Cup action.
“I think we are still building up, this was a big match for us to see how good we can be as a team,” Amonde told Pulse Sports.

Asked what winning a record 10th title meant for his charges, Amonde downplayed the setting of the milestone and instead insisted that the tournament was an opportunity to give his squad players a chance to show what they can do as well as to test out new tactics.
“It is a good tournament for us because we usually use it just to gauge ourselves and to give the young guys an opportunity to also just have a chance of playing.
