RUGBY Pirates fans shower Coach Bobby with tributes
Robert ‘Bobby’ Musinguzi, the former Stanbic Black Pirates Director of Rugby, received his final guard of honour from the fans and players on Saturday after his side’s 45-0 bonus point win over Rhinos.
“Marvin is a big winner who demands that the boys are not average; he is the right guy to have because he demands excellence,” Bobby told Pulse Sports.
“I am also happy that we have a different culture; back then, it was ok to be number two, but not anymore; the players and fans demand better, which keeps everyone in check.”
Bobby joined the Stanbic Black Pirates in 1999 as a player until 2006, when he quit and started a coaching role.
He coached the Sailors, the Pirates’ reserve side but took charge of the senior team in 2015, and his reign has been the most successful at the club.
In 2022, he moved to the Director of Rugby role, handing over the coaching reins to Marvin Odongo, a former player at the club.
Pirates sit third with 61 points after 14 match days played, level on points with second-placed Kobs and one behind table leaders Heathens.
The sea robbers visit Heathens next when the Nile Special Rugby Premiership continues this weekend.
