Kenya Rugby Legends have expressed their optimism of retaining their Legends Cup title against Uganda after sealing a Ksh.2 million partnership with SportPesa.
Kenya Rugby Legends are keen to make it back-to-back titles when they take on Uganda in this year’s Legends Cup but know it will not be easy this time round.
The Kenyan legends will play the first leg at the Kings Park Arena in Kampala on June 8 and their preparations have been boosted greatly by gaming firm SportPesa, who gave them a Ksh2 million sponsorship on Thursday.
“We are excited to embark on this journey with the Legends by Nondies because of their unparalleled legacy. Through this partnership, we aim to ignite a flame that will burn in the hearts of young talented players, encouraging them to believe in themselves and their potential for success just like the legends,” said Willis Ojwang, SportPesa’s Communication and Advertising Manager.

SportPesa's Tujiamini Initiative has came out to support the rehabilitation and clean up of the Ngong River in the wake of devastating floods that have wreaked havoc.
The ex-Kenyan internationals won the 2023 title 68-18 on aggregate, after thrashing their neighbours 38-6 in Kampala before winning 31-12 in Nairobi, but they are not expecting another huge win given the improvements their rivals have made.
“What we should expect this year is a lot of preparation from Uganda and what we can see is that they have gone ahead and beefed up their team,” said coach Oscar Osir.
“We might have gotten them a bit off guard last year, but I expect they will be ready this time. Nonetheless, we are up to the task as we have been training well for the trip.”
