Walukuba is threatening the same for their tie with Impis due to financial challenges.

The situation in the local rugby scene is slowly slumping into chaos.

Word is going around that Kobs is threatening to abandon their home game versus Rams due to URU's ruling on their controversial fixture against Heathens.

Now, in Jinja, Walukuba is threatening the same for their tie with Impis due to financial challenges.

According to sources, the league sponsor Nile Breweries has not yet released funds for this season.

The club secretary Leo Lubambula asked for a postponement of the game due to the failure to raise funds to facilitate the home game.

“…on behalf of Walukuba Rugby, we kindly request a postponement of this week 14 game,” the letter addressed to Impis chairman reads in part.

“We have failed to raise financial requirements to host you at Abel Dhaira Memorial Stadium this weekend. We therefore request this game to be postponed to an agreed date,” the letter adds.

The club coordinator Duncan Kirya confirmed that the team is looking at the option after their account runs low.

“We’ve been operating from personal money and then loans with the guarantee that we’ll get some money [from URU and the sponsor], so we’ve been left in a very tight spot,” he told Pulse Sport.

Other sources have confirmed that the Uganda Rugby Union has called for an emergency meeting later this afternoon to resolve the issue as well as the Heathens-Kobs standoff.
