Plascon Monger's fly-half Edgar Kairu is one of the players that has switched his focus to improving his game to help his club perform better.
With the Nile Special Rugby Premiership just one match day away from wrapping up, some teams and players are now setting their sights on the upcoming events on the rugby union calendar.
Plascon Monger's fly-half Edgar Kairu is one of the players that has switched his focus to improving his game to help his club perform better.
"I am now focusing on the next tasks as I improve as a player in other aspects; I need to train harder and improve on things like fielding, kicking, and practicing my low tackles," Kairu told Pulse Sports.
With the National Sevens circuit set for July 2023, Kairu says the target is to perform well on a personal and club level.
"I want to perform better at the National sevens, and to do that; you have to be prepared because the 7s game is harder than the XIs."
Mongers finished eighth in the 2022 Sevens circuit with 67 points, and now that Kairu is working on being better ahead of the 2023 edition, maybe there is reason to expect a better Mongers performance this season.
The Jinja Hippos are the defending champions of the sevens circuit, having finished top of the log with 128 points, they had beat Kobs 07-00 at the Bugembe stadium on 25th September 2022 in the penultimate sevens circuit.
The Mongers sit seventh on the Nile Special Rugby Premiership log on 25 points, with five wins after 16 games. They face the Rhinos in their last league game.
