'Gonya', as he is fondly known, also took a moment to appreciate his predecessor Ian Munyani, the new Rugby 7s captain, expressing his support to the Kobs centre to succeed in the role.

Tolbert Onyango's charges have failed to make it past the tournament's quarterfinal stage since 2017, and dreams of core status will be put on hold for another year.

Wokorach was named the Rugby Cranes sevens captain in 2018, replacing Eric Kasita, who had moved on for further studies in the US.
'Wokos' has since captained the team at several major competitions like the Commonwealth Games, the Challenger Series, two Rugby World Cup Sevens events and the annual Rugby Africa Men's Sevens.
The Rugby Cranes sevens team won the 2022 Rugby Africa Men's title at Kyadondo. It was Uganda's third title, having won it back-to-back in 2016 and 2017.
With the Heathens sitting third now on the log and more or less out of the title race picture, Michael Wokorach will be expected to link up with his club to try and help them end the season on a high.
