KCB came from behind to beat Kenya Harlequin to seal a place in the Enterprise Cup final against Kabras Sugar, who rolled Nondies in Kakamega.

Kenya Harlequin will have to wait another year to quench their thirst for the Enterprise Cup as they blew a 10-0 lead to lose 32-18 to a spirited KCB in an encounter that took place at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka on Saturday afternoon.

The Bankers are now on course to try and reclaim the cup they last won in 2015, where they will be facing Kabras Sugar, who brushed aside Nondies 54-8 in Kakamega.

Harlequins took the initial initiative with a well-converted penalty through Amon Wamalwa in the fourth minute after they had gained territorial advantage over the hosts.

Quins would continue on their quest, and in the 14th minute would make it eight points to their good when Albert Alela landed a try after getting on the end of Farhan Juma’s exquisite pass after he had managed to carry it through to the left before laying it off towards him. However, it was not converted.

Paul Mutsami would land a second try for the visitors a few minutes later, which was converted well by Wamalwa this time.

KCB needed answers, and after regaining their composure and adopting a patient approach, they would take advantage of a nervy moment. In the 28th minute, Zeden Marrow was lucky not to be sent to the sin bin after tackling Jacob Ojee, nearly making contact with his face.

As Quins tried to calm down, KCB would reduce the deficit with a well-converted try by Darwin Mukidza, before Elvis Namusasi put them ahead with a well-taken penalty just before the break, to make the score 17-15.

KCB would extend their lead in the 56th minute of the match. After Quins tried in vain to try and cause damage by pushing the Bankers back as much as possible, they found a way to get the ball to substitute Austin Sikutwa, who ran with the ball down the right side before landing their third try of the game to make it 22-15.

The Bankers would be temporarily reduced to 14 men again just like they did in the first half when Elvis Olukusi was sent to the sin bin for infringement, which allowed Quins to reduce the deficit through fly-half Robinson Asena.

However, Quins would also be reduced to 14 themselves after Leon Nyang, who had only come on moments before, also got sent off for a punishable offence inside their own 22-meter line.

KCB opted to scrum, and it paid off, as the ball swiftly passed to the other end of the pitch for Sikutwa to land his second try of the afternoon, which was well converted to make it 29-18.

In the end, it would prove to be a fight for KCB, who will now be seeking to assert their revenge over Kabras Sugar, who beat them to the Kenya Cup back in March.
