The Kenyan international announced his arrival in style as he touched down for the highly-fancied US-based rugby side
Kenyan international Alvin Marube has expressed hid delight at making his debut and scoring a try for USA-based side Rhinos.
Marube, alongside compatriot Jeff Mutuku, featured for the highly-fancied side on Friday and played a key role in their match against the USA Eagles as they begin the journey to becoming pros, and were excited for the opportunity.
“The smile says it all. Debut for Rhinos with a try against the USA Eagles in the scrimmages games earlier today (Friday). Thank you, Lord, for this great opportunity,” Marube said via a Twitter post before adding another statement on Instagram.
“Dear Lord, I thank you for having been so gracious and merciful to me, you've shown me that right now I may not know but later I’ll understand. I thank you for this great opportunity that you have given me. Thank you for the great things you will continue doing to me. Amen,” he said on the Instagram post.
The former Kisii RFC star is a fully-fledged Kenyan international, having made his debut for Shujaa at the 2021 Vancouver Sevens with his work rate and consistency seeing him get selected in subsequent tournaments.
His attacking pace and defensive skills on the wing saw him spotted at Itierio High School by Kisii RFC who he later ditched for Impala Saracens when he moved to Nairobi.
The Rhinos Rugby Academy was founded in 2014 in Southern California with the vision of providing high-performance rugby training and competition for Under-8 to Under-20 boys and girls in the US.
Over the last few years, the academy has grown to provide athletes a clear and competitive rugby pathway from junior age, to college and professional level, as well as USA rugby national teams.
The academy fosters a training, academics and competitive environment where athletes learn and apply core life values such as respect, honour, discipline, integrity, teamwork and accountability.
It has two training facilities, one in Irvine (servicing Southern California), and one in Sacramento (servicing Northern California) and has custom-designed world-class facilities and coaching staff that implement the academy training programmes.
