The 15-week suspension means that Uhuru’s Nile Special Premier League season is over.

Heathens lock Charles Uhuru has been banned from playing rugby for 15 weeks following a seating to review his dangerous tackle on Kobs’ full back Adrian Kasiito.

In Heathens’ 17-15 win over rivals Kobs at Legends two weeks ago, Uhuru’s foul play was not detected by both the centre referee and her assistants.

With the game televised, the video clearly showed Uhuru’s shenanigans and aided the review committee in making the judgment.

The Uganda Rugby Union statement read, “The Disciplinary Committee referred to the World Rugby regulation 17, appendix 1 for guidance and has resolved to suspend Mr Uhuru for Fifteen (15) weeks from taking part in any Union sanctioned rugby activity.”

“The suspension takes effect from 3rd February and ends on 19th May 2023. Uganda Rugby Union further guides the clubs and their leadership to take keen interest and promote fair play.”

The 15-week suspension means that Uhuru’s Nile Special Premier League season is over.

There are 13 weeks left on the season and Heathens will have to negotiate that without their best jumper.

After four game weeks, Heathens are fourth on the log with 15 points, three behind table leaders Stanbic Black Pirates.
