Hippos had promised to shake the status quo by upsetting at least one of the leading trinity but as things look, they’re fifteen points away from that target but have well settled as the best from the rest.
Jinja Hippos ended their first round of the Nile Special Rugby Premier League with a 20-14 victory over Rhinos in Legends.
Hippos had promised to shake the status quo by upsetting at least one of the leading trinity but as things look, they’re fifteen points away from that target but have well settled as the best from the rest.
The team that had started slowly with a string of poor results against all the top three finally found their right footing to climb back to the fourth position that they’ve clung to for the past three seasons.
Coach Saidi Atibu believes that the team has improved but admits more work needs to be done in the second round that starts this weekend.
“The team has picked up,” Atibu said of their performance adding that, “Attackwise, the team has picked up and they’re enjoying.”
Atibu however, feels that lack of maturity has cost his team in some games.
“Our defence has some few things to do because we lack a bit of maturity and consistency but that will be rectified going into the second round,” he added.
