Hippos face Toyota Buffaloes this weekend in Jinja hoping that they can return to winning ways.
Jinja Hippos have endured a rough start to their Nile Special Premiership. Four losses in five opening matches is not what was expected from a team that promised to shake up local rugby’s status quo.
Bebe Cool was speaking to the SUPL club chairpersons who had convened at the Imperial Royale Hotel to discuss ways how to improve the league. The joint meeting with FUFA was chaired by its president Eng. Moses Magogo.
They face Toyota Buffaloes this weekend in Jinja hoping that they can return to winning ways. The league match also dubbed the Seguya Cup honours the contributions of the fallen coach to both Hippos and the Kyadondo club.
“Robert Seguya cup is a bit different because there’s an extra motivation to win it,” David Wako, the Hippos skipper told Pulse Sports.
He added with confidence: “There’s a way we’re revitalised because we want to continue honouring his contribution. We’re prepared physically and psychologically to restart the season with this game.”
Jinja Hippos' rise to fame in the local rugby setting is largely attributed to the fallen rugby legend Robert ‘Soggy’ Seguya. Since his arrival in 2020, the celebrated coach is credited for turning the outfit from a mere participant in the rugby premiership to a force reckon.
