Kobs have since moved to 66 points to top the log, while Pirates, now on 65, are second with three games to play.
As the Nile Special Rugby Premier League season takes the final corner, every slip-up comes with serious ramifications.
Match Day 15 was expected to give the table a shake-up, with Platinum Credit Heathens hosting Stanbic Black Pirates at Kyadondo.
And the shake-up came following Pirates’ 08-06 win over the defending champions to leapfrog them.
Having gone into the weekend with one-point advantage over both Kobs and Pirates, Heathens needed a result to move closer to the title.
But a tightly-contested clash with Pirates, characterized by handling errors due to the conditions of the pitch, ended with the Sea Robbers on top.

RUGBY Pirates complete double over Heathens
Stanbic Black Pirates completed a Nile Special Rugby League double over Platinum Credit Heathens with a close 08-06 win at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds Saturday afternoon.
Ivan Magomu scored a penalty for Pirates while Sydnyey Gongodyo added a try to deliver the victory.
The win completed a season double for Marvin Odongo’s charges over Heathens and momentarily took them top of the log.
Kobs on top
Kobs were the biggest beneficiaries from the weekend, defeating Walukuba Barbarians 50-07 in Jinja to collect maximum points and reclaim top spot for the first time since Match Day 13.
The Blue Army lost their place at the top after a controversial 19-12 loss to Heathens but have now returned into the driving seat.

RUGBY KOBs too much for Walukuba Barbarians, back in business
On a day when Heathens faltered to a 08-06 loss to Pirates, Kobs stayed on their feet to wallop Walukuba Barbarians 50-07 to boost their chances to win the Nile Special Rugby Premiership on Saturday in Walukuba.
Kobs have since moved to 66 points to top the log, while Pirates, now on 65, are second with three games to play.
Heathens dropped to third, their losing bonus point keeping them three points off the pace.
With three games left, Kobs still have to play Toyota Buffaloes, Makerere Impis and Pirates, all the three fixtures at Legends.
Meanwhile Pirates have Plascon Mongers, Walukuba and Kobs left on their schedule.
Heathens, playing the chasing game now, will play Jinja Hippos and Mongers at home before ending the season with a trip to Makerere to face Rams.
The title race is now squarely between Kobs and Pirates, and the winner will likely be known after the two sides meet in their final game of the season.
