The 22-year-old has revealed that all players are pulling in similar directions considering most of the newbies in the Shujaa set up are roughly of the same age as he is.

Kenya Sevens hotshot Kevin 'Yokoh' Wekesa has revealed that the squad under the stewardship of new coach Kevin Wambua has developed a strong camaraderie that has allowed players to run through brick walls for each other which will make them unstoppable.

The mechanical engineering student has revealed that the upcoming Safari Sevens, as well as the Dubai invitational tournament, will go a long way in helping them work on their structure ahead of the upcoming January Challenger series.

“For now, we have a much younger squad, so we are just building up on our structure, bonding more, and then seeing what works for us and what does not work for us,” Wekesa told Pulse Sports.

“Our biggest goal is to return to the World Series which will be in May. With these tournaments, Safari Sevens, Dubai, and then the Challenger series in January, it will be a nice build-up.

“At least, they will get much higher competition which will help them in the future in terms of team bonding and getting our structures right.”

Wekesa, who made his Shujaa debut in 2021, has grown to become an influential member of the side at 22, which has given him seniority status.

However, the Kabras Sugar player has revealed that all players are pulling in similar directions considering most of the newbies are roughly the same age as he is.

“Everything is just a learning process. The new players are of somewhat similar age to me, so we relate more. If you tell them to do something, someone will get you because you are peers.

“It is all about learning from each other, learning from our mistakes and getting things right.”
