RUGBY Kobs’ flyhalf Joseph Aredo blames poor start for title-decider capitulation
Kobs, who went into the game on top of the log and needed to avoid defeat to land the title, were second-best from the first whistle.
Kobs head coach Brian Makalama says his side needed more composure and mental strength to make it count.
“We lacked composure and mental strength today,” Makalama told Pulse Sports.
“But kudos to the team for giving it everything; we had many unforced errors and didn’t capitalize on our ball retention.”
“The better team won; we go back to the drawing board, review the league, organize ourselves, and start from there,” he added.
Despite the loss, Makalama was proud of his team’s display throughout the season.
“We might not have won the league, but it was a good season; it was hard work to get players focused in the league, but we succeeded.”
Karim Arinaitwe scored Kobs’ only try on the day, with Joseph Aredo collecting the extras on Saturday afternoon at Legends Rugby Grounds.
The win earned the Stanbic Black Pirates their second title since 2018 in the club’s history.
