Ivan Magomu scored a try and four conversions for the Sea Robbers to record their 13th victory of the season.

Platinum Credit Heathens were the only team in the top three to blink over the weekend, and that has seen Kobs and Stanbic Black Pirates move closer to the top of the Nile Special Rugby Premier League.

Heathens were involved in a fixture they won 50-07 in the first round and were fancied for yet another routine victory over their younger brothers Toyota Buffaloes.

But in the end, Muhammad Athiyo’s charges needed a penalty try to snatch a 20-19 victory from the jaws of defeat.

Head coach Charles Onen’s troops took the game to the defending champions but lost the scrummaging contest to fall short in the end.

Whereas the Heathens will be happy with the win, their lead at the top was trimmed to just one point going into another big weekend.

The victory came with no bonus point and moved Heathens to 62 points, with the chasing pack of Kobs and Pirates getting maximum points to get to 61.

Pirates made light work of Rhinos, pummeling the Legends outfit 45-00 in a one-sided affair at Kings’ Park.

Robert ‘Bobby’ Musinguzi, the former Stanbic Black Pirates Director of Rugby, received his final guard of honour from the fans and players on Saturday after his side’s 45-0 bonus point win over Rhinos.

Ivan Magomu scored a try and four conversions for the Sea Robbers to record their 13th victory of the season.

Sydney Gongodyo, Arnold Atukunda, Timothy Odong, Conrad Wanyama and Peter Tinashe all crossed the white chalk for Marvin Odong’s side.

Meanwhile, Kobs recovered from that 19-12 loss to Heathens by defeating Rams 55-33 at Legends Rugby Grounds.

At the bottom of the table, Walukuba Barbarians overwhelmed Makerere Impis in a thrilling 37-07 to move further away from the relegation conversation.

The bonus point victory moved Leonard Lubambula’s side to 19 points, six ahead of ninth-placed Rhinos and a massive 11 away from bottom-side Rams.

The table could change further at the top this coming weekend.

Heathens will play host to Pirates while Kobs visit Walukuba.
