Mensah pledged to help Kenya gain more funds to help them in their quest to gain promotion back to the HSBC World Series
Newly elected Rugby Africa boss Herbert Mensah has heaped praise on Kenya Rugby Union boss Alexander ‘Sasha’ Mutai, promising to help the federation gain more financial muscle following Kenya’s success at the opening HSBC SVNS Challenger Series leg in Dubai earlier this month.
Both Shujaa and Lionesses secured top two finishes at the tournament, with Shujaa clinching the title, while the Lionesses had to settle for second following a narrow defeat to China.
Nonetheless, both sides are on course to secure their playoff places as they seek promotion to the highest level of World Rugby for next season.

In a heartfelt letter to Mutai, Mensah promised to help push for his committee to make more funds get raised for both teams for the remaining challenger legs, especially considering one leg costs between $300,000 and $ 400,000 (Ksh 4.8-6.4 million) to take part.
“Funding will always be an issue, and I know that the challenger series will cost you between $300,000 and $400,000 a time, a fact that hasn't escaped me or my executive committee,” the letter seen by Pulse Sports read.
“As we look to the future, we continue to look for new ways to raise funds, putting pressure on governments, institutions and sponsors.”

Mensah also praised both sides’ performances at the tournament, further adding that they had “made Africa proud” with their near-perfect record in Dubai.
