The winner of the 2023 Nile Special 7s will receive shs. 5M.
Uganda Rugby Union has clarified that the winner of the 2023 Nile Special Sevens will receive shs.5 million as a prize money.
The money has increased by shs.500, 000, which Jinja Hippos received for winning the tournament last year.
The Union was clarifying the prize a day after Heathens won the Rujumba Sevens at the Kings Park Arena in Bweyogerere.
The team received a paltry shs. 500,000 for winning the circuit, the same amount table leaders Stanbic Black Pirates got for winning the Stone City and Kitgum legs, respectively.
"The ugx 500,000 is a token for each circuit winner, but the overall prize money for the 7s is as follows..," URU clarified on Monday afternoon.
The women's winners will receive the same amount while the first and second runners-up will receive shs. 3.5 million, respectively.
The most valuable player for both the men and women categories will be rewarded shs. 750,000.
