The Kobs' loose forward was one try away from breaking club legend Allan Musoke and teammate Justine Kimono's record of 22 tries scored in a season but fell short.

As rugby fans flocked Legends Rugby Grounds to watch the Nile Special Rugby Premier League title decider between Pirates and Kobs, Pius Ogena had one target on his mind.

The Kobs' loose forward was one try away from breaking club legend Allan Musoke and teammate Justine Kimono's record of 22 tries scored in a season but fell short.

Karim Arinaitwe scored Kobs' only try on the day in the 7-23 defeat; however, Ogena believes it just wasn't Kobs' day, but he will bounce back better next season.

"Today didn't go our way; you win some and lose some; I can't tell where it went wrong," Ogena told Pulse Sports after the game.

"Personally, it was down to the hard work and extras that enabled me to perform well, so I will go back and prepare harder so that I come back again try to break the record."

Musoke scored 22 tries in the 2009 season, while Justine Kimono reached the milestone in 2014.

The Pirate's win saw them earn their second league title in the team's history, having won the first one in 2018.

Elsewhere, Heathens, Buffaloes, and Hippos secured victories on the season's final day, while Mongers drew with Rhinos.
