Patrick Odongo continued his impressive run for Kenya Sevens as he led them to the Safari Sevens title following a 19-0 thrashing of Samurai
Patrick Odongo inspired Shujaa into retaining the Safari Sevens title as his two tries were enough to help the Kenyans secure a 19-0 win over Samurai to be crowned champions.
Odongo put Kenya ahead when he teared through the right flank before landing a try which was successfully converted after an edgy first few minutes.
John Okoth should have made it two tries when he was found well by Vincent Onyala on the left flank, but the Samurai defence had enough to deny him just before he crossed the line, forcing Shujaa to scrum in their 22-yard zone.

Odongo had another chance to extend the lead just before the break down the left, but again, Samurai held firm to deny him when he was clean through on goal.
Wekesa did, however, extend the lead after the break when he teared down the right flank to land a converted try to put them 12 points to the good.
From a scrum down the right flank, the ball was successfully passed through to the other flank before Odongo scored his second try-albeit unconverted, to make it 17-0 for Shujaa. The result was enough to make Shujaa retain the title.
