The Stanbic Black Pirates wrapped up what can be termed a good week with a sponsorship contract extension and new kit with a 32-10 bonus point win over the Impis on Saturday in the Nile Special Rugby Premiership at the graveyard in Makerere.

Solomon Banaawa and Sydney Gongodyo each grabbed a brace, while captain Ivan Magomu and Arnold Atukunda each crossed the white line once; IMagomu also had a conversion to his name.

Pirates led 12-0 at the break, the second half saw them step it up with Gongodyo’s two tries, and another from Banaawa stretched the lead further to 27-0 before Arnold Atukunda sealed it for the visitors.

The Impis mounted a comeback with Amos Asiimwe crossing the white line, Edmund Waya converted and scored a penalty late in the second half, but it was a little late.

“We had a good first five minutes, and then we were dull for thirty-five minutes, then we had a good twenty minutes,” Pirates head coach said after the game.

“Then we were dull again for another twenty, so for me, we were blowing hot and cold. We do take the win, but we need to work on many things,” he added.

The win was Pirates’ 11th for the season after 12 games played. It was number six for Impis.
