Jinja Hippos endured a rough patch at the beginning of the season but have regained their form to fight their way back into the top four.
Despite the points difference with the local rugby trinity, coach Saidi Atibu still believes that his team can push more.
They take that mentality to Rhinos on Wednesday as they seek to consolidate the fourth slot into the midseason break.
“We’ve been growing slowly but surely and believe we’re now getting our tactics right,” Atibu told Pulse Sports.
“We’ll go all out to see that we push further. We expect them to come strong especially in the first half because they’re heavy guys but we have our strategy to try and tire them out early enough,” he hints at their strategy.
As Hippos seek to push the men at the top, Rhinos are barely fighting for survival with only one win this season. Sitting in 9th place, coach Timothy Buloti’s side is flirting with relegation but wants to change their course.
“We hope to change the tide starting with the Hippos game because the players are almost of the same age. It will be an expansive game because they run a lot but we’ve been training to be able to hold them,” he said.
Hippos are fourth with 20 points, 14 behind Stanbic Black Pirates.
