Both Shujaa and Morans will be taking part in the 2023 Safari Sevens tournament set to take place at the RFUEA Grounds later this month.
Shujaa captain Vincent Onyala has revealed how the side will look to stay competitive in order to be ready in time for both the Challenger Series next year as well as the Olympics in Paris next August.
The KCB player has further revealed why the upcoming Safari Sevens tournament as well as the invitational Dubai tournament in December will help the side sharpen the rough edges about the side ahead of the Challenger Series scheduled to start in mid-January next year.
“Given our circumstances with matters finances, Safari Sevens is one of the tournaments that gives us the chance to get more players to experience the high performance game, that being Shujaa and Morans,” Onyala said.

The KCB captain has expressed frustration at the previous regime’s tendency to make impetuous changes to Shujaa regularly, which has tended to leave it lacking cohesion, making it a regular punching bag at the World Series.
“Having both teams play at the highest stage gives us a perspective of the number that we need to use for the season.
“Before our challenger series build up, we have safari sevens, and next I think we should be going to Dubai in December for the invitation, so hopefully, with the two tournaments, we will be able to gauge how our first outing in January in the Challenger series will be like.
“From December to mid-January, we have quite a short turnaround and then from January, we will be able to see how we will build on because we will be having a free month in February, where we can be able to see if we will be able to slot in a few satellite tournaments to continue building on for the bigger task.”

Onyala has revealed confidence that Shujaa is bouncing back strongly slowly since relegation from the world series, blaming transitional mishaps for the team’s rather indifferent form that led to its relegation.
“The team definitely is coming back. We had a problem in terms of transition where we had guys playing for a long time and having amassed the experience, such that when we got a new sort of tech bench that may have a different view on the game, we tend to have a conflict of understanding.
“Having the new guys means we are able to learn afresh and be able to implement on the nitty gritties we may have missed with the previous regimes.
