Both sides will now be taking part in the finals of the ongoing Dubai Challenger Series tournament later on Sunday.

Both Shujaa and the Lionesses will be taking part in the finals of the Dubai HSBC Challenger Series tournament after beating Uruguay and Argentina respectively to keep their promotion hopes on track.

Patrick Odongo continued to show his brilliance when he netted his a hat-trick of tries, the first well converted, after Kenya took full advantage of a penalty before speeding down the right flank to put them 7-0 up.

Odongo made it two again after getting on the end of another drop-and run move set up for him by Nigel Amaitsa to land another good try to make it 14-0 and give them a comfortable lead into the break.

Odongo would complete his hat-trick right after the break after good decision making in the build up from his team-mates, with a move that was initiated by Samwel Asati ended up to Amaitsa who found Odongo for another nonchalant run into the box to make it 21-0.

Kenya were temporarily reduced to six men when co-captain Vincent Onyala was given a yellow card for infringement with just over a minute to go but the Uruguans could not take advantage.

In the end, the Kenyans would have enough about them to reach the final.

Uruguay’s Batista Basso did get one back for the Uruguans but it was not well converted

Lionesses torch Argentina

In the other semi-final clash, the Kenya Lionesses totally brushed aside Argentina to book their own final place in comfortable fashion, beating them 17-0.

Kenya landed their first - albeit unconverted try, through Judith Auma before Naomi Amuguni tore down the center to land the side’s second try which was well converted to put them 12-0 up.

Winger Sinadia Nyachio put the nail in Argentina’s coffin with another unconverted try to give them 17 points and seal their place in the final scheduled for later Sunday.
