New Shujaa coach Kevin Wambua has given the nod to players who have been impressive in the National Sevens Circuit as Kenya target an Olympics ticket in Zimbabwe next month
New Shujaa head coach Kevin ‘Bling’ Wambua named a 36-man provisional squad for what is his first assignment on Wednesday with players who have shone for their clubs during the ongoing National Sevens Circuit given the nod as well as some Kenya Sevens regulars.
Circuit leaders Kabras Sugar form the bulk of the squad with William Mwanjii, Lamech Ambesta and Brian Tanga, Kevin Wekesa, being named in the squad.
Fijian-born fly half Jone Kubu was axed from the squad after he was suspended for 11 games for stamping a Strathmore Leos player during their semi-finals at the Christie 7s.
Oilers’ Dennis Abukuse, who has been in scintillating form this season, will add the much-needed quality to the side while Samuel Asati, Daniel Taabu, Billy Odhiambo and Herman Humwa are some of the experienced stars who will bring the knowhow.
