The legendary former Shujaa skipper masterminded KCB’s fruitful National Circuit campaign by delivering the Kabeberi sevens title on Sunday.
KCB sevens coach Andrew Amonde has thanked two parties and credited them for delivering the 2023 Sportpesa National Sevens Circuit after playing catch up to Kabras Sugar for large parts of the series this year.
KCB were declared champions when Kabras Sugar were beaten by Nakuru in the quarter finals of the Kabeberi Sevens held in Nairobi, which allowed them to storm their way to victory by going for the tournament bonus with minimal pressure.

RUGBY Kenya Sevens' Dennis Abukuse rubbishes South Africa's threat ahead of Olympic qualifiers
Abukuse believes Shujaa have what it takes to beat South Africa at the upcoming Rugby Africa 7s.
They took apart Nakuru 24-0 in the final, before sending everyone involved in supporting the bankers into delirium at full time.
Amonde insists that the success was not achieved by luck, but through hard work.
“It was not something that just happened. They have worked very hard and it is through the hard work we put in that we were able to celebrate today and get the big things that we won,” Amonde said.

Kabeberi 7s : Champions KCB brush aside Nakuru RFC in Main Cup final to claim double honors
KCB dominated Nakuru RFC in the Kabeberi 7s final at RFUEA grounds, securing both the leg and overall title.
“I want to thank our sponsor, our bank. They have given us an entirely new field, an environment that has been very good for us to prepare and the success has come because we have somebody that has got our back and put us in that position we want to be in.”
KCB boasts the best defensive record, having conceded the least tries of any team that participated in the Division One Circuit this year.
Amonde believes the star-studded coaching staff all played a key role in helping them deliver the circuit title.
“ I think because of what we have worked on as a technical team. We were lucky enough to have a good technical team, the likes of Benjamin Otieno, Dennis Mwanja, (Griffin) Mushila, head coach Curtis (Olago) and our physios.
“We have worked very hard with these boys to get them to where they are today. Part of the conditioning and part of the game plan. They have learnt through a lot of coaches who have come to help them and you can see when they are playing, there is a big difference (to the rest of the teams)."
The bankers will now prepare for the new season which is expected to commence in late November.
