Wokorach, who, along with Desire Ayera, didn't travel with the team due to work commitments and Phillip Wokorach missing out due to club commitments, says the training camp will help players perform at high intensity also shape them better.
Uganda Rugby Sevens captain Michael Wokorach is optimistic about the team's camp in Stellenbosch, South Africa, as they continue preparations for the World Challenger series.
Wokorach, who, along with Desire Ayera, didn't travel with the team due to work commitments and Phillip Wokorach missing out due to club commitments, says the training camp will help players perform at high intensity also shape them better.
"First of all, I am not with the team because my work couldn't allow me to stay for up to a month, but I will join the team on the 16th, just before our first tournament, and stay with them until we return," he told Pulse Sports.
"The camp is key for us to perform at a high intensity. Each time we go there, we get in shape because we are working with the best coaches in rugby."
Yasin Waswa, Aaron Tukei and Mubarak Wandera are the new faces on the national team, and Wokorach says it's an excellent opportunity for them to experience such an environment.
"It's a big opportunity for Uganda and the new players on the team, they get to experience a professional environment, and I believe they will come back better."
An Olympic games appearance and an elusive ticket to the world rugby sevens series are on Uganda's wish list in 2023.
For the Uganda Rugby Sevens to achieve both feats, they will have to win the Rugby Africa Men's Sevens and the World Rugby Challenger series, respectively.
Uganda will face the usual challengers during two rounds of the Challenger Series on April 22-23 and April 29-30 in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
The Rugby Africa Men's Sevens will be held on September 16-17 in Zimbabwe.
This will be Africa's qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris, France.
