The fullback, who features for the Rugby 7s and XI's national sides, is a product of the Kyadondo Rugby Club youth development system, having started with tag rugby as a young boy.

Phillip Wokorach can use an introduction to Ugandan Rugby, more so with the 7s format.

The fullback, who features for the Rugby 7s and XI's national sides, is a product of the Kyadondo Rugby Club youth development system, having started with tag rugby as a young boy.

Wokorach says the Kyadondo Sevens happening this weekend with the tagline 'Kyadondo is home' shows how much the club has invested in nurturing young talent in rugby, including himself.

"Kyadondo has been home to me since I started playing; I am fortunate enough to say that I have grown up here, and I have been through the ranks, along with many other players," Wokorach told Pulse Sports.

"The club has always given us a platform to learn the game and become who we are, and I take it with pride that Kyadondo is home to me and every player here."

"We can only request that the structure continues to develop more youngsters who will carry on the tradition in the future," he added.

The Kyadondo Sevens is the fifth of the nine circuits on the national sevens calendar, and Heathens will be hoping to win their second circuit after claiming the Tooro 7s.

'Ojus', a three-time Africa Rugby Cup champion, is currently training with the Uganda Rugby 7s squad as they prepare to defend the Africa Cup in Zimbabwe adds that the current team is a blend of youth and experience, and it will offer something different.

"The team is blended with young and experienced players, and it's a good thing because we all learn from each other; the old guard will be expected to step up because we want to defend the title," he noted.

Uganda is pooled in group C alongside Burkina Faso, Algeria and hosts Zimbabwe.
