Alex Iwobi compared to Central Cee after flexing talents in viral rap video
The 27-year-old former Everton midfielder took to the studio for a recording session alongside some of his former teammates including Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana, who has been known to be a talented vocalist.
Iwobi showed off some impressive flows and flaunted his lyrical prowess while passionately rapping on a UK drill beat.
Iwobi dropped bars like:
“Footballer fits are local, trust me the fits are coming clutch.
“I make her temper run and she calls me a little candy crush.
“Screaming Onana but lemme show you wah I’m a do(referencing his former teammate)”
Following the emergence of the video which has now gone viral on social media, fans reacted by comparing the Nigerian midfielder to a popular UK rapper Central Cee who is currently buzzing on the music charts following the release another collaborative hit single with superstar rapper Dave titled “Sprinter” off their 2023 EP - Split Decision.
One user wrote: ‘central cee should be scared.’
Before another commented: ‘He’s much better a rapper than a footballer’
A third user wrote: ‘he’s got bars sha 😂’
And another reply read: ‘He's good innit’
This would not be the first time Iwobi has hinted on his musical talents as the former Arsenal ace has once teased picking up music as a second career.
Iwobi joins a list of footballers who have delved into music including his cousin and Super Eagles legend Jay-Jay Okocha, AC Milan star Rafa Leão, Atletico Madrid’s Memphis Depay, and Spartak Moscow forward Quincy Promes.
Iwobi returns to Super Eagles squad for international break
Ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly fixtures against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, Iwobi was called up to the squad by head coach Jose Peserio.
Iwobi, alongside a host of other Super Eagles stars like Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze amongst others have reportedly arrived the camp in Portugal.
Nigeria will face Saudi Arabia on Friday, October 13, before playing Mozambique three days later.
