The controversy has come to an end after Barcelona sold Ousmane Dembélé to Paris Saint-Germain for €50.4 million on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
On the club's official statement, it appears that the Catalans were only able to obtain 50% of Dembélé's release clause.
Barça put off the transaction's conclusion for a full week in an effort to bargain with PSG for an even higher price.

However, after the French club issued an ultimatum that threatened to completely scuttle the agreement, Barça was left with no alternative but to ship Dembele off.
Dembélé leaves Barça after six years with 185 appearances in all competitions, an average of 31 games per season.
Despite contributing 40 goals and 43 assists, Dembele's Barça career will be remembered primarily for his injuries.

Dembele celebrates time at Barcelona
Dembele took to his official social media platforms to send a message to Barcelona fans about his departure.
He said, As most of you already know, I have decided to start a new challenge.
"But I didn't want to leave without first thanking all the people from Barcelona who have supported me during all these years: colleagues, coaches, workers at the Club and managers.
"I have grown as a footballer and as a person and it has been a pride and an honor to wear the 'Blaugrana' shirt. Without a doubt, I take with me many memories that will always be in my heart."

Dembele celebrates joining PSG
Dembele then put another statement about his excitement to join PSG.
He said, "Happy to be Parisian!! I arrive in Paris with a lot of desire and pleasure to face this new challenge. We will meet soon ! 🔴 #AllezParis."
Kylian Mbappe welcomes Dembele to PSG
Paris Saint-Germain announced the arrival of the Dembele and one of the first PSG players to comment on the news was Kylian Mbappé.
A statement on Mbappe's official Instagram account said, “Welcome home my brother.
“So happy to see you here. The adventure begins!!!”
Barcelona fans brand Dembele a 'Snake'
After the completion of the move to PSG, Barcelona fans took to social media to brand Dembele a snake.
Although Ansu Fati hugged Dembele in pre-season, Barcelona fans are not satisfied with his exit.
Dembele will now aim to make his debut when PSG takes on Toulouse in the Final of the Trophee des Champions.
