Nigeria 0-2 Mali
The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the 10-man Black Stars of Ghana, to bounce back after their heartbreaking loss in last month's Africa Cup of Nations final coming into the game.
On the other hand, Mali defeated Mauritania 2-0 to prepare for the Nigerian match.
It took Mali just 18 minutes to go in front when El Bilal Toure converted a goal-mouth scramble.
Mali would hold on to take a narrow lead to the halftime break.
Head Coach Finidi George introduced Ademola Lookman and Cyriel Dessers but Mali continued to hold on strong in the second half.
With the Super Eagles chasing an equalizer, Mali were able to get a second goal when Kamory Doumbia converted a ball through to him by Mamadou Doumbia.
Mali would hold on for the win and the Super Eagles depart for their respective clubs.
Reactions to Finidi as Nigeria loses to Mali
Following the result, the Super Eagles of Nigeria rose to the top of the trends.
Nigerian football fans were disappointed that they lost to Mali after a morale-boosting win against the Black Stars of Ghana.
Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers missed a glorious chance and received criticism.
However, interim coach Finidi George received blame for the result.
The Super Eagles had only three shots in 90 minutes and Nigerian fans were not pleased with his tactics.
Several Nigerians that back Finidi to relace the departed Jose Peseiro have now changed their mind following the loss to Mali.

The Super Eagles are now expected to turn their attention to the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
