Super Falcons to face Canada

On Wednesday, July 17, in a training match in Sevilla, the nine-time African champions—who last competed in the Women's Olympic Football Tournament in China in 2008—will face the defending Olympic winners, Canada.

The women from Canada won the gold medal in Tokyo three years ago, defeating their Swedish opponents 3-2 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in normal and extra time.

Nigeria's most successful Women's Olympic Football Tournament performance occurred in Athens 20 years ago, when the Super Falcons placed sixth after losing in the quarterfinals.
