Noah Lyles and his girlfriend Junelle Bromfield have shared some relationship tips with upcoming couples as they opened up about what stage their relationship is in.
When asked about the first stage of a relationship and how long it should last in an interview with Mixed Feelings, triple world champion Lyles explained that he uses the terms cupcake stage or honeymoon stage and it should last from about three to six months.
The reigning Olympic 100m champion added that in this stage, there should be little to no arguments since people are just getting to know each other. He explained that the honeymoon stage should always be fun and people tend to get away with a lot since no one wants to argue with the other due to simple things.

“I call that the cupcake stage or the honeymoon phase…it’s like when everything is sweet and cuddly and everybody is excited because it’s brand new and you kind of get away with a lot more because nobody wants to like mess up the vibe of the relationship and this lasts probably from around three months to six months. After that, it’s probably when you’re definitely going to start having your debates and arguments with each other,” Lyles said.
On her part, Bromfield, a two-time Olympian, explained that the honeymoon stage should be the easiest part of the relationship since it is more of a learning phase. When asked about how she feels about her relationship with Lyles, Bromfield noted that still feels like the honeymoon stage despite being together for approximately two years.
“I think it should feel easy because, at this stage, all we’re learning is about birthdays and favourite colours, so it’s all butterflies every day. I think we are in our cupcake phase…for me,” she said.

Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield enjoyed a thrilling NFL game as the Arizona Cardinals deliver a standout victory.
In reply, the three-time world champion noted: “Two years strong, I must be doing something right.”
Meanwhile, Bromfield also shared that arguments should not be there during the honeymoon stage and if they are, it simply implies that the party who starts them is a red flag. However, she added that it might be normal for some people, especially those who have very different personalities.
“Yes, it’s a red flag for me because as I said, it’s supposed to be the easiest part, the cupcake phase but it might differ for some people because you may have different personalities and once you get to know each other more, you start meshing together better,” she said.
Replying to the same question, Lyles said: “I kind of have to say it depends on what you’re arguing about.”
