Women's football club DC Motema Pembe players beat up a referee during a match against TP Mazembe. Women in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a video that continues to make rounds on social media, players of the latter team chased the referee off the field to the touchline, throwing blows and kicks.
The attack started after the referee upheld his decision not to grant them a penalty despite pleas that their player had been fouled in the box.
Agitated, angry and furious, the Motemba beat the official as he ran across the pitch in an attempt to escape.
He was captured before reaching the tunnel, and about eight players and a team official started beating him.
At the time of the incident, Motema Pembe trailed 5-1, and the game didn't resume.
