Tennis sensation Coco Gauff will serve as the female flag bearer for the United States at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics in Paris.
According to Reuters, the 20-year-old will share the honour with basketball legend LeBron James as the duo leads the American delegation at the opening ceremony.

Gauff becomes the first tennis player to become a US Flag bearer
This marks a historic moment for Gauff, who becomes the first tennis player to represent the US in this capacity.
The young star, who missed the Tokyo Olympics due to COVID-19, expressed her immense pride and gratitude for the opportunity.
“I never thought in a million years I would have the honor of carrying the American flag for Team USA in the opening ceremony.
“I could not be more proud to lead my teammates with LeBron as we showcase our dedication and passion on the biggest stage there is,” Gauff said.
The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) selected Gauff and James through a vote among the athletes. USOPC CEO Sarah Hirshland praised Gauff's dedication and commitment to representing her country.
